A Simply Blessed Life
This week’s conversation is with my dear friend Karin Holder. Karin is a woman of faith, a daughter, wife, mother, and friend to many.
Karin’s motto is “it’s not where you came from, it is where you are going.” Being raised in Northern Virginia in the suburbs of Washington DC, Karin and her husband David (27 years married) knew this was not the place they wanted to be for the remainder of their lives. Karin decided to skip college and moved out west and started a family. Although she loves her family, being a full-time stay at home mom was not what Karin wanted to continue to do. Not knowing what to do, she borrowed $1500 and went to beauty college and became a Nail Technician. In May of 1999, Karin’s life changed forever when her beloved father passed away from Leukemia. Karin decided it was time to make a difference in her life and in the lives of those around her. She set a goal of making a career and earning six figures per year within a 5-year time period.
Karin put a plan in place and set forth on her mission, reaching her goal in just three years and has since far surpassed that goal. Karin has gone on to create a non-profit company, a tv production company, a real estate holding company and has been an Edward Jones Financial Advisor since 2004.
These businesses were all built out of passion, love, and a desire to add value to other people, the outdoors, and nature. Karin has many roles to juggle therefore she spends her days as efficient as possible, planning and delegating so that she can concentrate on what it is that she loves, which is coaching other women to design a life they love.
On this episode Karin shares why the first 3-5 years of starting your business is “off balance”.
She gives us her tips for managing our finances and starting a savings habit and talks about making intentional choices for our faith, our family and our finances.
Karin says, “When we are building a business, we must make intentional choices – we don’t have time to waste!”.
